Marina di Carrara (MS), Le Grazie di Portovenere (SP) and Viareggio (LU) between May and October 2018. This Circuit of regattas is organized by Nautical Club Versilia, from AIVE (Italian Vele d’Epoca Association) with the Navy and by VSV (Vele Storiche Vele Storiche).
Trofeo Artiglio is divided in three stages and is specially born for encouraging participation of vintage boats in different races located very close to each other, allowing them to easily reach their locations.  In recent years it has been proven that due to lack of time and crew, a lot of shipowners were discouraged from participating in regattas that were too remote from their ports. According to Gianni Fernandes, president of VSV Gianni Fernandes and his wife Patrizia, shipowner of Ilda, Trofeo Artiglio is an ideal circuit for those shipowners who want to easily reach locations of regattas and then, crossing just a few miles, come back to their ports.
The most important groupings in which the fleet will be divided will be le Epoca, Classiche, Spirit of Tradition and Classic Racer that may include historical hulls in fiberglass, one of the greatest achievements in the culture of yachting.
The opening stage of XIII Trofeo Ammiraglio Giuseppe Francese di Viareggio that will be held on 5 and 6 May 2018, is a regatta for modern classes created in 1996 in memory of high-ranking official of Italian navy, died in 1995. Departure will take place at Italian Navy and the boats will go through island of Tino arriving at the final destination in Viareggio. Regatta is organized jointly by Versilia Nautical Club of Viareggio and Viareggio Vele Storiche which will draw up appropriate classification for vintage boats.

Second stage will take place on 22 and 23 September 2018 at Le Grazie di Portovenere (from 2004 named as “Port of lateen sails and vintage boats), in Golfi di la Spezia, in memory of XXXI Trofeo Mariperman that involves for years the entire Golfo dei Poeti with regattas and cultural events such as art, science and technology, where Naval Support and Experimentation Center of navy and AIVE are playing the leading role.
The third and last stage from 18 to 21 October 2018 of the 14th edition of Vele Storiche Viareggio, will as usual include guided visits to restoration shipyards, big dinner for the crews inside the worksite of Del Carlo, book presentations and some navy projects. The award-winning ceremony of the first edition of Trofeo Artiglio will be held at Club Nautico Versilia.
