Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto hosts a temporary exhibition “METALLIC BEASTS - THE 20th-CENTURY CULT OF THE AUTOMOBILE” in Rovereto (Tn).
The exhibition begins with the works of “Avanguardia futurista” (1909-1916), that are followed by the paintings from the 1920s and 1930s until the present day.
The works on display illustrate the myth of the automobile, as main instrument of the speed, the dominant theme of futurists movement, that enhances the aesthetics of the car: “metallic animal”, ”with polished and cold steel”, ”geometric and mechanic splendor”.
The exhibition puts on display some wonderful advertising posters created by Marcello Dudovich and Mario Duse and also some works by Fortunato Depero from “Archivio del ‘900” and Fondo Depero; the famous futuristic artist who bequeathed his city Rovereto all his work.
The exhibition is open until 10th June 2018.
