“Regate delle Isole”: the multi-course competition for professionals and family crews returns to Imperia from September 10 to 12, 2026.

“REGATE DELLE ISOLE”: REGISTRATION CONTINUES FOR THE THIRD EDITION
Around forty entries have already been received for the third edition of the *Regate delle Isole* (Islands Regatta), an event organized by the Porto Maurizio Yacht Club (www.pmyc.it) in Imperia from September 10 to 12, 2026, in collaboration with the Italian Mini 6.50 Class, Circolo Velico Capo Verde, Yacht Club Cala del Forte, Circolo Velico Ventimigliese, Circolo Nautico Andora, and Circolo Nautico Loano. Notable entries include the Comet 45S *Gorilla Gang XL*—winner of the IRC and ORC rankings in the previous edition—and the Farr 45 *Favorit*. Among the classic boats expected are the 1972 Sangermani *Sandra*, the 1973 Sparkman & Stephens *Ojalà II*, the 1951 yawl *Aleph*, and the "Yacht Classic RH" fleet led by the 1985 Swan Ron Holland *Triboulet*, alongside fellow fleet members *A Blue Shadow*, *Cassiopea*, *Manurau*, *Bonita*, *Nissiotis*, and *Kai Zen*. The Italian Navy (*Marina Militare*) will also be on the starting line, participating with one or more vessels from its historic fleet. The event—held under the patronage of the City of Imperia, the Liguria Region, and the Italian Navy—is organized in collaboration with UVAI (Italian Offshore Sailing Union), Marina di Imperia, the Mini 6.50 Class (with Imperia serving as the final stage of the Italian Championship), AIVE (Italian Vintage Sails Association), CIM (International Mediterranean Committee), and FIV (Italian Sailing Federation), with the support of the Yachtnet Nautical Section of Confindustria Imperia and Veneziani Yachting (a Boero Group company specializing in protective and antifouling paints).

SHORT OR LONG COURSES BASED ON WEATHER CONDITIONS
“Once again this year, we are upholding the spirit of the event,” noted Alessio Marziano, President of the Porto Maurizio Yacht Club, “namely, the opportunity for each vessel to choose its own course based on the crew's experience. Participants can race a 30-mile route to Gallinara Island and back, or a course of up to 200 miles towards the coast of La Spezia, the Giraglia, or the French island of Porquerolles. The turning point for the ‘long race’ will only be announced a couple of days before the start, depending on weather conditions. They will be true ‘Island Regattas’... with variable routes!” While awaiting the arrival of all the boats, crews who have completed the shorter course will be guided to discover the local area's beauty—much like last year’s visit to Imperia’s stunning Borgo Parasio district, organized in collaboration with the local association of the same name. The *Regate delle Isole* will conclude on Saturday, September 12, with a Blue Economy event for schools organized by Yacht Classic RH, followed by the awards ceremony and the Big Night Party for boat owners, crews, and guests.

The *Regate delle Isole* offer a fantastic opportunity for the many vessels that travel to the Upper Tyrrhenian and Western Liguria at that time of year to compete in major sailing events. These include the Palermo-Montecarlo race, which finishes on August 23 in the Principality of Monaco, and the *Vele d’Epoca di Imperia* (Imperia Vintage Sails), an event concluding on September 5. Boats registered for the 2026 Regate delle Isole may avail themselves of berthing at the Marina di Imperia from August 31 to September 20. It will therefore be possible to arrive well in advance and depart more than a week after the event concludes.
