The Alfasud designed by Valentino Garavani
This car debuted at the Turin Motor Show in 1971
Valentino Garavani, the recently deceased great Italian couturier, "dressed" not only beautiful women, famous actresses, princesses, and queens, but also a car: the ALFASud 4V, produced in Pomigliano d'Arco (Naples).
This car debuted at the Turin Motor Show in 1971: a 4-cylinder engine, a top speed of 150 km/h, a square-profile body, large windows, and Giugiaro styling.
For its 1980 restyling, this car was entrusted to the great fashion designer, who made it an exclusive vehicle, of which only 3,989 were built, dedicated especially to elegant women. Valentino placed considerable emphasis on the body color: metallic caramel, black for the roof, amber windows, and gold wheel spokes.
The side of the car features a double gold and black profile that follows its line, with the famous "V" and the prestigious signature.
The interior is unmistakably luxurious, with black velvet, ochre-yellow carpeting, and a blond wooden steering wheel; all the details are designer. If the car is feminine—as Gabriele D'Annunzio long ago proclaimed—in this case it could only be dressed by a great master of feminine elegance like Valentino Garavani, who—it is said—was present at the presentation of the Alfasud 4 V, wearing an impeccable suit the same color as the car.
