Jaguar D-Type’s revival
In 1955, English brand Jaguar produced 75 exemplars of D-Type race car, 25 models fewer as previously planned. Recently Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works decided to bring this model back to life and produce other 25 D-Type.
In spite of the great success achieved in the racing world during the fifties, such as three big consecutive victories at the race “24 Hours of Le Mans”, Jaguar did not bring production of 100 D-Type to an end. The task of completing the unfinished project by producing remaining 25 handmade exemplars was entrusted to Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works. It is expected that the new D-Type will be constructed following the original technical specifications as engineer Lofty England and his co-workers from fifties wanted.
Like in the fifties now it is possible to choose between two versions, the Short Nose born in 1955 and the Long Nose that came to life in 1956. The latter was characterized by a longer bonnet, aerodynamic fins behind the driver, engine’s cylinder head and particular brakes. The first model of this edition was introduced at Salon Retromobile in Paris 2018.
