Fiat 1100 cabriolet or Ferrari 166 Inter? It’s difficult to choose even for real connoisseurs
The “big” difference in terms of aesthetics is the little brand on the bonnet: it’s a Fiat 1100 cabriolet.
The main highlight of this week is one of the rarest custom-built car, produced in 1949 in Farina facilities.

Certainly, at that time, a few years after Second World War, owning a car, in particular a custom-built one, was not ordinary, on the contrary it was a privilege.
Fiat 1100 cabriolet Farina not only has a very similar line to Ferrari 166 Inter, but it was also produced with the same technique used by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera from Milano; a tubular frame covered by featherweight aluminum, hence the name Superleggera.
The platform is the same as the Fiat 1100 B’s one, redesigned according to Pininfarina style, and the final product is an extraordinarily elegant car, enriched by this powder blue livery in contrast with a beige top.

The car has been restored for more than 3000 hours.
CURIOSITY
This exemplar was first sold in 1949 and its second owner was an American cycling team “Salco”, that used the car as a promotional vehicle. Later it became part of an English collection, and in 2002, after a long restoration to bring it back to the ancient splendor, it appeared on an article on a specialized magazine; in 2005 it was sold at a auction organized by Coys during Padua Fair. There are only 4 exemplars to this date, three in Europe and one in Japan.
