The Vintage and Classic Yachts will participate, launched respectively up to 1950 and 1975, the Classic IOR (launched between 1970 and 1984), and the Historic Sails, to which will be added the group of 5.50 Meters S.I. Also this year, the Cantiere Valdettaro, the main sponsor of the event, will take care of all the participants for the great crew dinner on Saturday evening in the pine forest overlooking the sea. It will be a way to get to know up close an important reality of the nautical world that has existed since 1917 and that has never stopped restoring historic boats. Among the most exciting initiatives is the parade of boats on Sunday morning in front of Porto Venere, when all the boats will parade in perfect trim and with their on-board uniforms to show themselves to the public on the shores. The exhibition at the Cantiere della Memoria “Il Vespucci e le sue ancelle”, created on the occasion of the ninetieth anniversary of Marivela, will display paintings by Nostromo Adriano Gandino and Gloria Giuliano on decommissioned sails of the training ship. On Friday the Radiotelegraphers' "regatta" and the launch of the Azzurra 83 model, with a related simulation test by the creator Fabrizio Formicola. On Saturday afternoon, May 24th at 5:30 pm, the well-known cartoonist and sailor Davide Besana will present the Sail The Children event at the Villa Romana del Varignano, preceded at 4:30 pm by a guided tour of the Villa with the archaeologist. The culture of the sea will pass through the presence on the dock of the Sirene magazine, which, celebrating 10 years of activity and 20 published issues, will also establish a special prize.
A fleet of 14 lateen sails will also participate in the “Vele d’Epoca dell’Alto Tirreno – Trofeo Valdettaro” that will compete for the “Trofeo del Marinaio”. The boats, which will moor along the Braccini promenade next to the schooners Pandora and Amore Mio, will race on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May on a regatta course dedicated to them. “The lateen sail community,” says Fanja Raffellini, president of Vela Tradizionale, “is renewed every year with new restorations and recoveries of boats. This year, FIBaS, the Italian Federation of Historic Boats, will be represented by the federated Storie di Barche with the Biancamaro gozzo, the Verbano Vintage Sails Association with Maniman, Vela Tradizionale with the Donono, Robilu and Lazzaro gozzos, SuperbaMente with the San Giuseppe gozzo. Two boats, one of which with a female crew, will defend the colors of the Italian Naval League, Genoa Sestri Ponente Section.” The sailing event will be supported by the Cinque Terre National Park, which will also be its sponsor. Among the new features this year is the placing of the Etrurie Trophy up for grabs, announced on the occasion of the Italian Lateen Sails Championship in Porto Santo Stefano in October 2024 by the Interporto Orte company.
