The countdown to the Bergamo Historic Gran Prix 2025, scheduled for Sunday 25 May, continues apace, marked by the registrations that have already rained down on the organizers' table. In addition to the usual regulars, who, given the limited number of available places (80 cars between Pre-war/single-seaters and GT/Touring and 50 motorcycles), do not want to risk missing the event, several new entries are appearing, also encouraged by the anniversaries celebrated every year by the Bergamo event.
In this regard, some absolutely outstanding entries should be noted. For the 65th anniversary of the presentation of the model, a Ferrari 250 GTE will be present that is definitely worthy of note, given that its first owner was Ludovico Scarfiotti who, sharing the cockpit of the Ferrari 250 P with Lorenzo Bandini, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1963. And given this “pedigree” we are certain that its current owner will experience the “old style” Le Mans start with particular emotion, with the drivers lined up on the opposite side of the asphalt and, at the command of the race director, will run towards the cars to take off, just as happened in those years on the French circuit. Equally interesting and unique is the F. Junior Apache MKII built in California in 1960 and rebuilt, with the direct consultancy of the Manufacturer, in 2011 by an enthusiast from Pavia. The peculiarity of this single-seater, in accordance with the trend of single-seaters that raced on American ovals at the time, is that of having the cockpit offset to the left. 60th anniversary, instead, for the Formula 875 Monza, the preparatory category promoted by AC Milano and Autodromo di Monza, which in 1965 began a long history that has allowed the growth of numerous famous drivers, the unforgettable Michele Alboreto to name one, but also technicians, mechanics and various professional figures linked to motorsport. For the occasion, some of these single-seaters will return to make the twin-cylinder Fiat 500 “sole” “sing” on the Circuito delle Mura.
The format of the event, which has gradually gained greater prestige also at an international level, confirmed every year by a large group of participants from European nations and beyond, as per tradition includes four heats for historic cars, divided into the Pre-war/GP and GTS/Sport categories in addition to the road Tourism, and two heats dedicated to historic motorcycles. All concentrated in the afternoon, from 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The start of the heats for the covered-wheel cars will contribute to further igniting the spectacle, with the start in “old style” Le Mans mode, which will see the drivers lined up on the opposite side of the asphalt race towards the cars lined up in a herringbone pattern to take off.
However, from the morning onwards, the participating cars and motorcycles will be on display in the Colle Aperto area, so thanks to free access for the public and enthusiasts it will be an opportunity to admire up close authentic four- and two-wheeled jewels that retrace over seventy years of history of the national and foreign motor industry, on two and four wheels.
Cars and motorcycles that will be in action in the afternoon on the 2,980 mt. of the track that the legendary Tazio Nuvolari, winner with the Alfa Romeo P3 of the only edition of the Bergamo GP in 1935, defined as “sublime”.
Finally, it is also worth mentioning the charitable purpose of the Bergamo event, which on this occasion raises funds to be donated to the Onlus Spazio Autismo Bergamo.
