The first Land Rover in the history was found in a Welsh field.
The Land Rover will mark its 70th anniversary with a series of events including the restoration of the last surviving model of 3 pre-production Land Rover, the first Land Rover in the history.
This model was first presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show way back in 1948. According to the researches, it should have been sold in 1961 and brought back in England already in 1968. Twenty years later the first Land Rover was purchased by enthusiast from Birmingham, who, at first, had intention to restore the car, but, unfortunately, the project was not launched as planned and the Land Rover was left untouched in a field not far from the Solihull. The car has been recently found by a Team devoted to the program “Land Rover Series I Reborn”.
This vehicle with sturdy aluminium panels, galvanized chassis and removable floor mats, represents one of the typical series of models, launched before the mass production of Land Rover. During the restoration is expected patina “vintage” to be maintained, including vintage green paintwork.

Director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic, Tim Hanning declared “This Land Rover is an irreplaceable piece in the history of automotive world”. Land Rover will celebrate its 70th anniversary restoring this example that encapsulates the whole history of the company.
The task of restoration of the car to take it back to its antique splendor was entrusted to experts of Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works.
