THE TOP HEAD IN VINTAGE CAR SALES IN 2024: FERRARI 250 GT SWB CALIFORNIA SPIDER
Sold for 17.9 million dollars!
In Kissimee, Florida, a short distance from Walt Disney World among golf courses and other pleasant places of fun and adventure, 01/16/2024 was one of the most exciting days of classic car auctions, in a whirlwind of millions of dollars.
An adrenaline-filled experience when the 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider was sold for 17.9 million dollars!
This exceptional two-seater car was designed by Sergio Scaglietti (Modena 1920-2011), designer specialized in sports cars and owner of the Carrozzeria of the same name, based in Maranello.
From Scaglietti's activity, inextricably linked to the Ferrari house since the 1950s, the most beautiful Testa Rossas, the 250 GT California and other luxury models were born which made the Prancing Horse brand famous throughout the world.
This splendid and powerful sports car was produced in 106 examples, from 1957 to 1963.
It was much appreciated in the United States, especially by Hollywood actors, including James Coburn (1960s/70s), the tough guy with the gun..."the tough guy with the smoking gun and the passion for redheads..." Who doesn't remember him in the film "The Magnificent Seven" or in "Upside Down" and in "The Great Escape"?
He was a fan of large-caliber Italian cars with a strong visual impact such as his Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider.
