To celebrate the important anniversary, a new venue has been chosen, the nineteenth-century historic residence Ville Ponti in Varese, where on Saturday 25 January 2025 speakers and participants from all over Italy will be welcomed. The congress, organized by the Officine dell'Acqua Foundation and the AVEV (Associazione Vele d'Epoca Verbano), is open to anyone after registering online, with limited places. Among the topics covered are the ongoing restoration of Nelson's Victory, the Amerigo Vespucci's world tour, the FAI Velarca and the construction of small wooden boats. The day will be punctuated by a sit-down lunch for the participants. On Sunday 26 January you will be able to visit the Officine dell'Acqua of Laveno Mombello, on Lake Maggiore, which recently became a Museum recognized by the Lombardy Region.

THE TENTH EDITION OF “BETWEEN WOOD AND WATER” AT “VILLE PONTI” IN VARESE

An exceptional event could not fail to take place in a prestigious venue. The tenth edition of "Tra Legno e Acqua" will be held on Saturday 25 January 2025, the most important national conference dedicated to the world of vintage, classic, historical boats and traditional seafaring, organized by the Officine dell'Acqua Foundation and the AVEV , Vele d'Epoca Verbano Association ( www.veledepocaverbano.com ). To underline the important milestone, the Ville Ponti Congress Center in Varese was chosen as the venue, a historic residence in neo-Gothic style surrounded by an "English" park with centuries-old trees, built in the mid-nineteenth century on one of the hills overlooking the city, today owned by the Varese Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture. The villa, with ample free internal parking, can be reached in 40 minutes by car from Milan, is a short distance from Switzerland and Lakes Maggiore and Como and just 40 km from Malpensa Airport. RELATIONSHIPS AND YOUNG SPEAKERS

There will be around ten presentations that will alternate throughout the day on the occasion of the 10th "Between Wood and Water" conference, lasting from 10 to 20 minutes each, with spaces dedicated to questions from the public. Particular emphasis was given to young speakers, competent and passionate enough to be considered the vanguard of this sector of pleasure boating. Among these the Second Lieutenant Aurora Esposito, navigator during the world tour of the Amerigo Vespucci, the naval builder and influencer Gaia Brojanigo, the architect Leonardo Bortolami, who in England is directing the restoration of the 1765 Victory vessel of the Admiral Nelson, the researchers from the University of Genoa Giulia Zappia and Claudia Tacchella and the engineer Andrea Foschini, president of “Vela e Legno”, which will build a small wooden cabin cruiser to cross the Atlantic. Francesco Foppiano, one of the directors of the Italian Yacht Club of Genoa, will present the 2025 calendar of events organized by the associations belonging to FIBaS, the Italian Federation of Historic Boats.
