Milan, 06.13.2024 – Not just four wheels. The Art-Rite collector's car auction set for Saturday 29 June at Palazzo Biandrà in Milan offers a group of 19 lots of cars and scooters, among which a magnificent collection of Lambrettas stands out, "unique, because complete", as he explains Giorgio Dalle Nogare, president of the Lambretta Club Milano, who collaborated in organizing the sale.
As a tribute to its Milanese roots and to the Lambrate district where its headquarters are located, Art-Rite offers nine examples of the legendary motor scooter, from A to F, i.e. the first complete series produced between 1948 and 1955: eight 125s, including the first and iconic Lambretta A, all expertly restored and subsequently never used, and a 150 model in original condition, never restored, with all original components, with estimates ranging from 3,000 to 20,000 euros. Iconic model of Made in Italy design, present in the most important museums in the world, but also a symbol of the purest "Milaneseness", that capable of combining entrepreneurial genius and generosity, the Lambretta was born from an idea by Ferdinando Innocenti who, after the Second World War , understands the population's need to have a light and economical means of transport with which to travel.
Inspired by American scooters, and drawing on its know-how linked to the production of steel tubes, the Lambretta was born which in its original design had a rigid tubular structure on which the bodywork was assembled.
The first models produced had the characteristic of the "open bodywork" becoming the typical sign of recognition of the Milanese scooter.
It is precisely these very elegant models, which in the early 1950s literally got Italians moving again after the war, that are offered for sale.
