Steve Jobs' BMW Z8 at auction.

The history of Z8 begins in the mid-90's when BMW tried to launch onto the market a sport car able to compete with the competitors's ones.

During the Tokyo Motor Show in 1997, BMW presented the BMW Z07 Concept, with a design inspired by the 507, that immediately attracted great interest of the car lovers; the production became official in 2000, and ended in 2003 for a total of 5703 cars.
The first appearance of the Z8 on the big screen was in 1999 during the 007 movie "The World Is Not Enough" with Pierce Brosnan.
Many famous people purchased the Z8 in 2000, including Apple founder Steve Jobs.
This car interested Jobs so much because it was one of the few cars able to combine a minimalistic design very accurate with a -at the time- leading edge technology including the aluminium chassis, the sophisticated internal, the very particular instruments, and the security systems that exist in the nowadays' cars.
This exemplar was produced on 1st April 2000, delivered to Jobs in October of that year, who remained its owner until 2003, when he sold it to an American collector; as per today the vehicle has travelled only 24.000 km, it is in entirely preserved condition, and it still has all the accessories and optionals provided by BMW, including hard top, car cover, manuals, two keys and even the Motorola StarTAC mobile phone.
The car will be present at the next auction held by RM Sotheby's in New York, and it's estimated a cost between 300.000$ and 400.000$.
