Consent and participation for the vintage meetings of Onda Classica in Santa Margherita Ligure
Everything is ready in Santa Margherita Ligure (GE) for the first edition of "OndaClassica - Tigullio, Incontro d'Epoche", from 23 to 26 May 2024.
Scheduled from 23 to 26 May 2024, a multi-brand gathering of vintage motor yachts, sailing boats, runabouts and motor boats of classic lines built between the early twentieth century and the 2000s. “We have achieved the objective we had set ourselves,” declared Luigi Spaggiari, president of the Riva Society Tigullio, organizer of the event, “that is, being able to include the event in the already busy calendar of seasonal events dedicated to traditional seafaring and realizing it with the support of numerous local realities.
All for the benefit of the citizens and vintage boating enthusiasts who will frequent Santa Margherita Ligure on those days." The event enjoys the patronage of historic associations that have been promoting the culture of classic boats for decades, RHS (Riva Historical Society), ASDEC (Vintage and Classic Hulls Association), Museo della Barca Lariana, with the Municipality of Rapallo at their side, Port Authority/Coast Guard, Naval League and Navy of Santa.
“OndaClassica – Tigullio, Incontro d’Epoche” is an event promoted by the Municipality of Santa Margherita Ligure, the Liguria Region and the S. Margherita Ligure – Portofino Hoteliers Association, created with the collaboration of ASCOM Confcommercio Santa Margherita Ligure and Progetto Santa Margherita Srl. Not Alone. Territorial organizations and institutions have "come together" for the success of the event, whether they are linked to nautical activities (OPN Port and Nautical Operators of Santa Margherita Ligure, Coop. La Calata, Coop. Armatori Moto Pescherecci, Assoc. Promotori Civico Museo delle Maritime Traditions, Museum of the Sea, Polo Nautico, ITTL Nautico C. Colombo-Camogli) or citizens (CIV Integrated Center of Via 'Costa dei Delfini', Fondaz. ITS, Photo Club SML). Contributors of this first edition are BBBell, Sant'Orsola, PHIEQUIPE, 2Tecno, Laboratorio Olfattiva, SAF Assicurazioni.
The most famous Riva motorboat models will be present, from the Super Florida to the Olympic, Aquarama, Ariston and Junior, some of which were built over half a century ago. A 1980 Riva Caribe will instead represent the most recent history of the legendary shipyard, founded in 1842 in Sarnico on Lake Iseo. Among the large motor yachts is the 20-metre Italica, a Baglietto Minorca example launched exactly 60 years ago by the Ligurian shipyard of the same name in Varazze which this year celebrates 170 years of its birth. The boat was the subject of a recent extensive refit carried out by CARM of Lavagna.
Three boats come from the Lariana Boat Museum in Pianello Lario, on upper Lake Como, officially founded in 1982 by GianAlberto Zanoletti (1943-2019) inside an old spinning mill. The 1966 Venetian taxi Elisa from the Venetian shipyard Oscar, the 1963 runabout Pucci III from the Colombo shipyard and the 1934 Bob motor launch will represent what is considered one of the most important collections of boats in the world, numbering over 400 hulls. The guardian and curator of this reality is Ferdinando Zanoletti, president of the Barca Lariana Museum Foundation which has been promoting the culture of historic boats for years. In Santa Margherita Ligure there will be boats from the Bertram shipyard, an American brand founded in 1960, with other hulls that recall the golden age of vintage motoring. On the dock one of the oldest sailing boats in the Mediterranean, the gaff ketch Tirrenia II from 1914, 18 meters long, launched in England 110 years ago and still perfectly sailing today. There will also be another sailboat, the 19-metre Samurai from 1962, which from the day of its launch belonged to the Pavese family from Milan, who has won multiple victories on regatta courses throughout the Mediterranean. The classic wooden construction will evoke the famous Ligurian shipyard that built it, the Sangermani di Lavagna, a reality that is still operational today after almost 130 years of its foundation. The participation of Red, a robust Scottish motor yacht from 1947, is also expected.
The arrival of the participating boats and the opening of the Hospitality Area is expected on Thursday 23 May. The inauguration of the event with ribbon cutting will take place on Friday 24 May at 10 am at the Banchina Sant'Erasmo. In the evening, at the Bagni Grand Hotel Miramare, the fireworks show will take place by Pyrodreams. On Saturday 25 May at 9pm, at the Bindi Amphitheater, the Empty Spaces tribute band will perform live in the show "A Pink Floyd Tribute Show". On Sunday 26 May, starting from 11 am, the parade of elegance of the registered boats will be held along the Santa Margherita Ligure – Rapallo and return route. The awards ceremony will follow and the closing of the Village in the evening.
