CESARE FIORIO (Turin 1939) was all this for the LANCIA 037 (1982/83) two-door coupé, built by the Turin car manufacturer to compete in the World Rally Championship, the highest race for cars in this speciality.
The project, strongly supported by Fiorio, was born from the collaboration between Lancia, Abarth, Pininfarina and Dallara.
Four-cylinder in-line engine, 205 HP, over 220 km/h. It was also the last two-wheel drive car to win the world championship in 1983, competing with the Audi 4, which was very strong with its four-wheel drive and invincible.
“A memorable challenge”, as Fiorio still recalls, at the Monte Carlo Rally, partly on snow!!
Walter Rohrl was its daring pilot.
