President Geronimo La Russa organised a big party for the 120th anniversary of ACI Milano during the passage of the 1000 Miglia
The 2023 edition of the Mille Miglia was a very special one, for initiatives of great sporting interest.
The passing of the world-famous race in Milan marked the 120th anniversary of the Automobile Club Milano (1923), one of the first motoring associations after the Club Automobilisti d'Italia (ACI Nazionale) founded in Turin in 1898 by eminent personalities of the time to foster the development of motoring in our country.
Today, ACI Milano is one of the major organisers of events in the sector, including the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza (1922).
The organisation's celebrations were attended by ACM President Geronimo La Russa, ACI Nazionale President Angelo Sticchi Damiani, Vice-Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Galeazzo Bignami, Lombardy Governor Attilio Fontana and Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala.
On this occasion, the '120 Years in Motion' exhibition was set up, where historical photographs bore witness to ACM's intense, centuries-old activity in transport and sport.
The Caravan of the Mille Miglia - which stopped in Milan on 17 June - paid homage to this anniversary by parading triumphantly past the ACM headquarters in Corso Venezia, creating an event within the event, which was also highly suggestive for the general public.
The Milanese club had also gathered 120 historic cars of great value, which followed the 1000 Miglia caravan to Monza. Here, at the famous Autodromo, they drove around the track and also negotiated the steeply inclined parabolic curve.
OldCar24 participated with several crews including two pre-war ones.
The 3rd edition of MIMO, a motoring festival 'in motion' on the high-speed tracks of the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, concluded the events with a glowing opening to the future of motoring, in all its declinations, ancient and futuristic.
