The "Regata delle Vele d'Epoca" (Vintage Sails Regatta), scheduled from 30 April to 1 May 2023 in Tuscany, represents the first important event of the season dedicated to historic boats and is part of the programme of events of the Settimana Velica Internazionale Accademia Navale Città di Livorno (www.settimanavelicainternazionale.it). The fleet will be concentrated in the days leading up to the event at the Marina Cala de' Medici, the tourist harbour with 650 berths south of Livorno, between Castiglioncello and Rosignano Marittimo. The two scheduled races will start from here. Owners and crews will be able to count on the organising team made up of members of the Livorno Naval Academy and the associations involved, the Lega Navale Italiana sez. of Livorno, the Yacht Club Cala de' Medici, AIVE (Associazione Italiana Vele d'Epoca) and VSV (Vele Storiche Viareggio). Registration open for 'Regatta of Vintage Sails' at the Naval Academy

Wooden or metal yachts built before 1950 (Vintage Yachts) and 1976 (Classic Yachts), as well as their replicas identifiable according to the provisions of the "Regulations for the rating and racing of Vintage and Classic Yachts - C.I.M.", will be allowed to enter the "Regatta of Vintage Sails". Also admitted will be the Spirit of Tradition (with IRC certificate), Historical Sails and, from this year, the new category of yachts known as 'Classic IOR', i.e. yachts built in metal or wood or composite material not as standard launched between 1 January 1970 and 31 December 1984, which conform to their original designs and can prove to have had a valid IOR certificate during that period. The classification for the Historic Sails will instead be drawn up on the basis of the finishes in Real Time and on the basis of the possible division into groups, none of which will consist of less than three boats.
Boats, which will be accommodated from 22nd April to 2nd May at the moorings provided by Marina Cala de' Medici, will be able to register exclusively by email by 28th April 2023 to the following addresses: lnilivorno@gmail.com, or to the Secretariat of the Yacht Club Cala de' Medici at info@marinacalademedici.it or to the email g.fernandes@velestoricheviareggio.org attaching the documentation required by the Notice of Race (https://www.settimanavelicainternazionale.it/regate/vele-depoca-2/). A percentage share of the entry fee will be donated to Fondazione Rava pro earthquake Turkey and Syria.
