The Bergamo Historic Grand Prix 2023 returns on 28 May

On Sunday 28 May, historic and prestigious racing cars will return to the circuit of the Walls to dispute the sixteenth edition of the Coppa Città di Bergamo, the historic commemoration of the Bergamo Grand Prix that saw Tazio Nuvolari triumph in an Alfa Romeo P3 in 1935. The formula is the one of the Bergamo Historic Gran Prix tested for several years with great success with the public: about 30 thousand spectators in 2022.
Between 2 and 6 pm, the Circuito delle Mura will be run clockwise again this year as in 1935, starting from Piazza della Cittadella (where the cars will be on display), through the Porta del Pantano down the Boccola, the long straight to the church of Sant'Agostino and past the challenging curve with change of gradient, the climb of Viale delle Mura then the Porta San Giacomo chicane, another straight and the finish line. The track, which measures 2,980 metres, will be closed to traffic.
There will be 80 selected vintage F1 and F Junior cars from the 1950s and 1960s, Anteguerra: Gp/Sport E Gts/Sport up to 1975 from the most renowned manufacturers. Among the drivers there will be Bruno Giacomelli, among the Maserati 26 B, Amilcar 6c, Fiat Coppa D'oro, Riley, Salmson and Mg Monaco, among the single-seaters the F. Junior Patriarca, Dustle, Moroni and the Abarth F. Italia, finally many GTS: Porsche 356 and 911, Ferrari 250 Gt and 308 Gt, Mercedes 300 Sl, Alfa Romeo Gt Junior, Spider and Zagato, Ford Lotus Cortina, Austin Healey and Shelby Cobra 427. Finally, to commemorate the 10 motorbike GPs valid for the Italian championship on the circuit of the Walls that took place in the 1950s, there will be two heats dedicated to historic pre-1975 Grand Prix motorbikes: Mv Agusta and Mondial in memory of champion Carlo Ubbiali, Rumi, Honda, Norton, Laverda, Ducati, Gilera.
