Techno Classica Essen 2023 - Preview OldCar24

THE STAR OF OUR STAND AND THE LINK WITH GRACE KELLY
Protagonists of the OldCar24 stand were the stars, first a Mercedes Benz 300 SL Roadster with a very special history and then a Mercedes Benz 190 SL in white.
This splendid car appears in 'Hight Society', a famous American film from the 1950s, in which it represents the status symbol of that gilded, elegant world of the rich and influential; today jet society, but with something extra sophisticated and probably unrepeatable.
Grace Kelly, starring in her last film before marrying Rainier III of Monaco, and Frank Sinatra, with his irresistible charm, are on board a Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, white, newly produced by the Stuttgart-based company, 1955, and delivered to the set by Metro Goldwyn-Mayer.
Sport and Leicht = Sportiness and Lightness.
The 190 SL also raced a Mille Miglia in 1956. This documented participation enriches the commercial value of this cabriolet, capable of competing in a race of that importance.

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL debuted as a prototype in 1954 at the International Motor Sports in New York. It was presented at the 25th Geneva Motor Show in 1955, where it was much admired for its elegant, flowing lines from bonnet to boot; cream-coloured livery, black leather interior like the one on display here and offered for sale by German dealer Reller Automobile GmbH.
A perfect convertible for travelling anywhere, in style and safety.
