The protagonists of the video will be on display at the OldCar24 stand at the Auto e Moto d'Epoca exhibition in Padova from 20 to 23 October 2022.
Two rarities for connoisseurs, united by the same brand, model name, but aesthetically different and with different histories. The Lancia Fulvia Fanalone in red livery is an HF; the HF acronym stands for High Fidelity.
After the great racing successes achieved by Gianni Lancia in the 1950s, the Lancia sports stable was reborn in February 1963 almost as a private initiative by loyal fans of the Turin marque, because Fessia's engineering approach was not conducive to competition. It is Cesare Fiorio, driver and son of the then Lancia communications director Sandro, who animates the Squadra Corse. The young Cesare, sports director of the team, would become the architect of Lancia, Fiat and Abarth's great successes in the rally and endurance championships in the following years, and at the end of the 1980s he would take the helm of Ferrari's F1 team.
Thus from the Fulvia Coupé came the HF versions, destined for racing: cars with a more essential finish, without bumpers, with aluminium doors and bonnets and upgraded engines. The first HF was born with a 1216 cm³ engine increased to 88 bhp and a four-speed gearbox (435 examples from 1966 to 1967); this was followed by the 1.3 HF with enlarged wings and 101 bhp (882 examples between 1968 and 1969, the last being experimented with a five-speed gearbox). 1969 saw the arrival of the 1.6 HF known as the 'Fanalone' (or 'Fanalona') because of its original, larger headlights: it reached 115 bhp (130 with the 1016 variant) and was built in 1258 examples, plus twenty reserved for the Squadra Corse. The Fulvia Coupé 1600 HF second series, made without aluminium parts and for the most part in the 'Lusso' version, numbered 3690 in all, produced from 1970 to '73.

There is no shortage of one-offs in Lancia's production, and this is the case with the Fulvia Sport whose design is the work of the Zagato coachbuilder in Milan. In the report, you can see the Fulvia Zagato in light blue livery has been fitted without bumpers and with additional headlights since the car had a sporting past, and is homologated as a 'road-going competition' car. It is a batch of very few examples that were fitted out with this configuration between 1968-1969, equipped with a 1.3 s engine from the first long-lever series with doors and bonnets in peraluman. An extensive article was also dedicated to this example in Automobilismo D'Epoca December 2016/January 2017.
We look forward to seeing you at our stand in Padova (HALL 15) where you can admire these two rarities!
