The Pontedecimo-Giovi, one of the first Italian uphill car races turns 100 years old.
The Ligurian Veteran Car Club organises the 22nd edition on 1 and 2 October 2022
The long history of the race has seen famous drivers among its participants. Varzi, Nuvolari, Bandini, Scarfiotti, Schetty, Govoni, Munari and many others competed on the demanding curves of a road full of charm not only for the driving but also for the landscape of a lesser-known Liguria.
The Ligurian Veteran Car Club, which has always taken care of the commemoration, is not missing this year.
The centenary edition, full of novelties, sees the re-enactment stage on State Road 35 moved to Saturday to allow participants to enjoy a day on the Ligurian Riviera on Sunday.
The cars are scheduled to arrive in the morning of 1 October with refreshments in the now customary location of the S. Biagio hotel in Bolzaneto, departure of the first car at 14.46 from the Fumeri junction along the state road.
Having completed the precision tests, the participants will head, along a route of approximately 70 km inland from Genoa, towards S. Margherita Ligure where they will be accommodated at the Hotel Imperiale.
Dinner will be at the famous restaurant 'Il Covo' on the way to Portofino. The evening will be accompanied by the music of the group Surya, very popular in Liguria and beyond. On Sunday morning, with a short ride, participants will be able to taste Ligurian focaccia in Zoagli and then, along a seafront route, they will reach the prestigious Villa Carrara in Genoa, where an excellent lunch coordinated by Patrizia Modena of Typelovers and the prize-giving ceremonies will conclude the event.
The event, included in the ASI calendar, is open to cars built before 1967 in respect of what was the last edition of the historic race.
