IV TRIBUTE TO CARLO RIVA: THE ICONIC VINTAGE SPEEDBOAT EVENT KICKS OFF

Santa Margherita Ligure, 01 June 2022- Today sees the start of the IV Tributo Carlo Riva, the iconic event for Riva d'Epoca motorboats, staged from 1st to 5th June 2022 in Santa Margherita Ligure, the home of the Dolce Vita and pleasure boating. The event with its unmistakable charm and elegance is ready to enchant the Gulf of Tigullio with a fourth special edition that will see the Riva brand as the absolute protagonist, to celebrate in great style the 180th anniversary of the Shipyard's birth, the 60th anniversary of the presentation of the Aquarama, and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ing. Riva.
The fourth Carlo Riva Tribute, organised by the "Riva Society Tigullio" in collaboration with Ascom Confcommercio and other important bodies in the area and promoted and financed by the Municipality of Santa Margherita Ligure and the Santa Margherita Ligure - Portofino Hoteliers Group, brings back the glamour of the 1950s in the splendid setting offered by the Gulf of Tigullio, the cradle of tourism on the Eastern Riviera.
During these days the owners of the splendid vintage Riva motorboats gather in Santa Margherita Ligure, the true heart of the event, to enjoy unique moments of the most exclusive glamour and entertainment. Among the more than 20 boats taking part in the Tribute, the Bertram Riva 38' stands out, the flagship of the fleet, the famous "Carlina" purchased by Ing. Riva in the mid Seventies and previously owned by his friend Richard Bertram; a unique boat of inestimable value, boasting the privilege of having belonged to two legends of the nautical world.
During the emblazoned event, Santa Margherita Ligure is indeed caught up in the spirit of the Tribute: Calata del Porto, with the Hospitality Village set up at the beginning of the Calata itself represents the point of interest for the mooring of the boats, while the entire town also offers the Riva-lovers audience the chance to enjoy a unique spectacle of dedicated performances and activities, starting with the Pink Floyd Tribute Concert scheduled for the first evening of today, Wednesday 1 June, at the Bindi Amphitheatre.

The highlight of the event will be the photographic exhibition "Riva in the movie" that, through evocative photographs, many of which are vintage, recounts all the films in which Riva boats have played an exceptional role, alongside some of the most prestigious actors in the world. The exhibition will be open for the entire duration of the meeting at Villa San Giacomo in Santa Margherita Ligure and at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Rapallo.
From the great classics such as Il Sorpasso to James Bond, from action movies such as Men in Black to award-winning art films such as La Grande Bellezza, for over sixty years Riva motorboats have left their mark of Italian excellence in the history of international cinema.
On Thursday 2nd June the sporty part of the event will get underway, in particular on this first day the iconic boats will sail towards Portofino for a parade lap in the evocative setting of the Marina, then passing through San Fruttuoso, Camogli and Punta Chiappa, facing in the afternoon several skill tests that will engage the crews until their return to Santa Margherita. At the end of the rich day, the Opening Night with live music and a fireworks display at the prestigious Terrace of the 'Grand Hotel Miramare' in Santa Margherita Ligure, home of the Riva Society Tigullio.
On Friday 3rd June the crews, after the traditional briefing at Calata del Porto, will set off in the direction of Genoa Porto Antico and Genoa Boccadasse, where, once arrived, they will parade together with the Yacht Club Italiano's boat and then enjoy a pleasant lunch and a visit to the emblazoned Headquarters, before returning free to Santa Margherita.
On Saturday 4th June, a pleasant novelty will further enrich the already rich programme of activities of this edition: in fact participants will have the chance to enjoy a suggestive excursion to the historical villages of the 5 Terre, then going on to the Riva Shipyard in La Spezia for an exclusive Factory Tour.
On Sunday 5 June, on the final day of the Tribute, the crews will go out to sea for the last time for the traditional Défilé d'Elegance with a parade of the boats in the heart of the Port of Santa Margherita Ligure, followed by the final prize-giving ceremony in the enchanting spaces of the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Rapallo.
