The 60th anniversary of Diabolik and the Jaguar E-Type at the Automobile Museum and the Cinema Museum in Torino
Two exhibitions celebrate the 'King of Terror'
Number one among the Top Sport Cars of the 1960s, it was a revolutionary car in terms of its mechanical design and the aesthetic configuration of its bodywork.
The Milanese Giussani sisters, authors of the famous 'Diabolik' comic strip, could find no better way to entrust the King of Terror, the imaginary and disturbing protagonist of Italian 'black' comics, with the driving of the car. The publication of the "stories" has been going on for 59 years, through the work of various illustrators, in small format albums.
It is practically a double birthday for two different phenomena, but which have occupied, and still fascinate, the collective imagination: the positive phenomenon with technological invention and the creation of the beauty of form (in the case of the bodywork by Malcolm Sayer, an English designer who used mathematical formulas to design his aerodynamic forms) and the negative phenomenon on the moral plane: "Evil", impersonated by Diabolik. Despite their contradiction they coexist, because they are both part of life.
The Automobile Museum and the Cinema Museum of Torino celebrate both the prestigious car and the perturbing character of the comic strip, with two contemporary exhibitions full of fascination, on the occasion of the release of the film "Diabolik".
