Great general enthusiasm was aroused by the 2021 Padua Vintage Car and Motorcycle Show. The President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, and the highest local authorities were present at the inauguration.
This was not just a reaction to the long absence of important events due to the pandemic, but a demonstration of genuine interest on the part of the public, and connoisseurs, in vintage vehicles. The fascination of historic cars is unquestionable: their class, formal beauty and typicality in contrast to standardised industrial seriality have attracted large numbers of visitors to admire their "geometric and mechanical splendour", as Filippo Tommaso Marinetti wrote in the early years of the Futurist twentieth century. To all intents and purposes, vintage cars designed by the great Italian coachbuilders and designers are masterpieces of art, testimony to the ingenuity of the designers and the know-how of those who made them materially. Some of these cars are rare or very rare and, as such, reach very high international prices. Every 'status' has its 'symbol' and today it seems that the classic car is one, providing a comfortable journey in safety, 'visibility' and distinction, because it is something absolutely unique.

Fiera Auto e Moto d'Epoca Padova 2021, boom of visitors

OldCar24 presented two cars from the period of the greatest creativity in motoring: the BMW 1600 GT signed Frua, the great designer from Turin, and the legendary PORSCHE 911 2.4 S, in the rare 1972 Targa version, perfectly restored. The growing number of sales indicates that the market for historic cars is booming, so much so that investment funds and auction houses are now focusing on this market. Interestingly, some of the purchases are oriented towards models produced in the 1980s and 1990s. The Mercedes E 200 Convertible (w124 series) by the Italian designer Bruno Sacco, who defined the entire car production of Mercedes-Benz, has been very successful. The small productions are highly sought after, to which belongs the exclusive ALFA ROMEO RZ, a limited series car (1992-93) designed by Zagato; a rarity attested by a number plate. The combination of Alfa and Zagato is synonymous with high technology, reliability and refinement.

The OldCar24 stand had the honour and pleasure of a visit from a great former rally driver, MIKI BIASON, two-time world champion in 1988 and 1989, on board the Lancia Delta Integrale.
A great sportsman who exhibited eight Lancia Deltas at the fair, cars that he personally restores and sells. A final consideration of no small importance: the positive impact of this event, so well attended, on the collateral activities: hotels, restaurants, commercial activities, which recorded a record number of presences higher than the pre-Covid period.
A sign that today, on the threshold of almost dehumanising technological revolutions, the achievements of the past satisfy the visitor's aesthetic sense, the desire to dream, even without owning them, of the most beautiful cars ever built in the world.
