Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Touring Superleggera set up for competition
SS stands for Super Sprint, in this III series the Touring bodyshop distinguished itself from the previous series for its sleek, taut lines that break with the past
This Super Sprint coupé belongs to the 3rd series of the 1900C model and has been "dressed" by the Touring bodyshop of Milan, with the Superleggera technique considered today as an object of art, a superlative technique, patent and pride of the Milanese bodyshop. This technique makes the car very light thanks to the handcrafted aluminum bodywork and the extremely elegant design. The perfect combination for a competitive use without losing style and class, timeless. The 1900 C Super Sprint is the latest evolution of the previous Sprint version, equipped with the new 1.975 cc engine that makes it a performing sports car.
OUR PROTAGONIST
The protagonist of our service, was registered in Switzerland by the initial owner who imported it to Italy in 1981. The transformation into a racing car was completed in 1987, the period in which it began its racing career. This model won the 1987/88 and 1992 Italian GTS Championship, it also achieved other class victories in subsequent participations in social competitions. There are only two previous owners, with whom it won the Italian GTS Championship up to 2.000cc., in 1987 - 1988 with several class victories, including Vallelunga, Mugello and Monza.
During 1991 it was bought by the current owner, who in the first year of competitive activity, 1992, won the Italian Championship, GTS Class up to 2,000cc. with victories in Monza, Mugelllo, Vallelunga, Misano. The car was subsequently withdrawn from competitions, with the exception of participation in the annual Club Italia social competitions held in the Fiat Group's Balocco plant, where it was able to win in several editions. Due to its particular state of conservation and sporting preparation, this 1900 CSS still offers significant performances as evidenced by the palmares accumulated in the short but intense competitive past.
