La Spezia: vintage sails at the Mariperman and Seafuture 2021
Two new events will see the involvement of vintage sails in La Spezia in a final season that promises to give great emotions.
THE SEASON FINALE OF VINTAGE SAILS
After the success of "Le Vele d'Epoca nel Golfo" (Vintage Sails in the Gulf), organised every year in June in the La Spezia village of Le Grazie, the AIVE, Associazione Italiana Vele d'Epoca, will once again be the protagonist of two events in the Gulf of La Spezia dedicated to vintage boats. The first event will be held from 24 to 26 September 2021 on the occasion of the 33rd Mariperman Trophy, an event that over the course of the various editions has developed a close link between the Naval Support and Experimentation Centre (CSSN) of the Italian Navy, organiser of the La Spezia event, and the Committee of the Sailing Clubs of the Gulf of La Spezia. The vintage sails will be racing on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September.
One week later, on Saturday 2 October, at the end of the Seafuture 2021 event, a sailing event will be organised by the Santa Teresa di Lerici Sea School in cooperation with the 5 Terre National Park and Assonautica, called "5 Terre National Park Sailing Day". Participation will be open to pleasure boats longer than 6 metres and vintage sails will have their own classification.
During the two events the participating boats can stop, subject to availability, at the Porticciolo De Benedetti Assonautica of La Spezia from Monday, September 20 until 12:00 on Tuesday, September 28 or until 12:00 on Tuesday, October 5 if enrolled in Sailing Seafuture. The piers are adjacent to the Passeggiata Costantino Morin, in front of the city centre. This is a unique opportunity for visitors to learn more about the history and characteristics of some of the most beautiful vintage boats still sailing.
The activities at sea and all the events on land will take place taking into account the "Protocol for the regulation of measures to combat and contain the spread of Covid-19", approved by CONI and the Sports Office of the former Ministry of Youth Policy and Sport.
DOUBLE HISTORICAL REGATTA AT THE 33RD MARIPERMAN, THE PROGRAMME
The Mariperman Trophy was established in 1988 to commemorate the centenary of the Mariperman Navy. Over the years, it has acquired great importance, becoming a sporting and exchange event for research bodies, universities, institutions and industries. The organising authority is the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), which entrusts the organisation of the event to the Circolo Velico La Spezia, with the collaboration of, among others, the Italian Vintage Sails Association, Assonautica La Spezia and the Vele Storiche Viareggio Association. The regattas for vintage boats, which on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September will compete for the eighth edition of the CSSN AdSP Trophy, will be open to yachts in possession of a C.I.M. 2021 rating certificate, Spirit of Tradition yachts with an IRC certificate and Historical Sails judged eligible by a C.I.M. trustee committee. The trophy will be awarded to the Vintage or Classic boat that has obtained the best sum of the times offset in the two races. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category.
SAILING AT SEAFUTURE 2021
Seven editions, 200 exhibitors and over 9,000 participants. These are the numbers of Seafuture 2021, the business convention on maritime and dual-use technologies organised by IBG (Italian Blue Growth, a company formed by the Distretto Ligure delle Tecnologie Marine, Consorzio Tecnomar Liguria and EIEAD) at the La Spezia Navy Yard from 28 September to 1 October. At the end of the event, on Saturday 2 October, there will be the second edition of the sailing event, because Seafuture is sea at 360°, called "Seafuture - 5 Terre National Park Sailing Day - Inclusivity, Sustainability, Blue Innovation", open to all boats and multihulls, both cabin cruisers and open, with no age limit, without the use of tonnage certificates, from 6 metres overall length upwards. Vintage, Classic, Spirit of Tradition and Traditional sails will have their own classification (online registration by 23 September at www.trofeomariperman.it).
