ALFA ROMEO HISTORICAL MUSEUM IN ARESE

For the specialist visitor, style, design and sophisticated technology are described in the respective museum areas. The "Masters of Style", the extraordinary Italian coachbuilders of the 1930s and 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, are represented. Among the beautiful cars on display is the first, from 1910, that began the Alfa Romeo legend; it is the A.L.F.A. 24 HP, coachbuilt by Ercole Castagna.
The long sporting tradition began with a 1911 A.L.F.A. 15 HP Corsa and a 1925 RL Super Sport, said to have belonged to an Indian maharaja. The Aerodynamics, 1913, seems to have been conceived by Jules Verne. From the 1930s came the 8C 2900 B Lungo, a masterpiece of Touring coachbuilding, and the Superleggera 6C 2300 B Mille Miglia. This was followed by the post-war cars, the famous Giulietta, known as the "Fiancée of Italy", the Giulia, "Designed by the wind", the Alfetta, the 1900 C 52 Disco Volante with its aerodynamic shapes, the 1968 Carabo, designed by the great Marcello Gandini, coachbuilder Franco Scaglione, one of the pinnacles of design. The Nuvola concept car, the timeless 1600 Spider Duetto, 1966 ........
