ARONA - STRESA - ARONA, 11-12 September 2021

Milan, 07 June 2021 - The re-enactment of the Arona-Stresa-Arona, organised every two years since 2017, brings together some of the most beautiful and oldest vintage cars that will be shown to the general public on this occasion. The third edition, 124 years after the first speed race, will take place on 11 and 12 September 2021 with the aim of demonstrating that it is still possible to keep these jewels on the road, instead of confining them to museums. The backdrop for the cars built up to 1925 will be the beautiful landscapes of Lake Maggiore with breathtaking views and corners rich in history adorned with villas and castles.
After careful and painstaking research, it can be said that the "Arona - Stresa - Arona" car race held on 12 September 1897 on the dusty roads of Verbano with no less than sixteen firsts in locomotion, divided into three classes: quadricycles, tricycles and bicycles, is officially the first Italian car race.
The event was made official by the sponsorship of the C.A.I., an acronym for Club Automobilisti Italiani, which became ACI Milano the following year, and by the press of the time, which gave the event much coverage in the weeks before and after the race.
The previous Turin - Asti - Turin race of 28 May 1895 was considered by the press of the time to be a trial run, during which the few participating vehicles were timed with a simple clock.
