Interview with Giacomo Bretzel, the artist of photography

First of all he is a photographer. Young enough to handle digital technology with ease when shooting for the world's leading newspapers (Vanity Fair America, VF Italia, Madame Figaro, The Telegraph, Condé Nast Traveller UK, Casa Vogue Brazil La cucina Italiana). Mature enough to know how to use analogue with infinite wisdom: Large and medium format from the optical bench to Polaroids, Rolleiflex, Hasselblad etc .
His art is here, in knowing how to dialogue with old films with the ease of a painter with brushes.

Photography is an artistic moment that is not defined only in the click but starts instead in the choice of the subject, continues in the reflection, follows the dialogue with the interlocutor and finally the shot. The analogue image does not remain a simple copy of reality, a mere digital abstraction, but becomes an artistic act tout court. And the subjects she photographs are in tune with her globe trotter personality Men and women. Like Jacky Ixs, Françoise Sagan, Giorgio Armani and Donatella Versace, Giuseppe Pennone, Mimmo Paladino, Charlotte Rampling, Omar Sharif, Melanie Laurent, Philippe Starck, Naomi Campbell and Gaia Trussardi among many others. The Musée des Beaux arts de Anguleme gave him the place d'honneur during the Emoi Photograppique photography festival in 2012 with his portraits in the world of fashion. And then the vintage cars for which he has a deep passion and which he knows in their entirety (he is a collector himself).
A passion that has led him for 18 years to create the world campaigns for Chopard at the Mille Miglia and the Grand Prix de Monaco, as well as art projects for the Cartier maison in India with Maharaja, the Villa d'Este elegance competitions, the 24 Hours LeMans, and various exhibitions on the theme from Monaco to Paris and Brescia.
Among his passions there is also La cucina which brings him to work with the greatest international chefs from London to Paris to Milan with various books to his credit and a prize as "best food photographer" given by Glenfiddich in 2004.
Olive oil is another great passion. He produces it himself in Montemagno, on Monte Pisano, and the photos he has taken of the farmers and fields have become a great travelling exhibition that began at Le grande epicerie del Bon Marche, then at La fayette Gourmet in Paris, and later at the Universal Expo in Milan (Tuscany region, at the cloisters of the Umanitaria).
