FINARTE LOT N ° 15: VERY RARE ALFA ROMEO 6C 2500 SPORT BERLINETTA BODY "Turinga"
Just as pedigree, rankings in races and careful selection are fundamental for purebred horses, so for vintage cars the history and competitions in which they took part are important.
This is the case of the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport Berlinetta, 1944, auctioned by Finarte. Seventy-six years well lived and carried beautifully; documented presence in the most exclusive competitions.
This beautiful sports car is one of the very few surviving specimens built in 1944, in the middle of the world war, and one of the two survivors dressed by the Touring Bodywork.
The super-light alloy "Turinga" body was adopted in 1936 by the Milanese factory. The shell is made up of thin steel tubes, to which aluminum panels are applied. Turinga is the Italianized name under the fascist regime, when the use of foreign words was forbidden, and the car of this lot is one of the rare survivors with this name.
Alfa 6C indicates a series of cars that since 1925 had numerous subsidiaries until 1953. 6C is an acronym for 6 cylinders, it describes the splitting of the engine with which all models were equipped albeit with substantial differences between the series starting from the displacement , continuously increased by 1500 cm. original cubic, to 2500. It was designed by Vittorio Jano, on a light and resistant steel frame. In the following years, the 6Cs were totally redesigned and modernized, bodyworked by different body builders, all of great technical-craftsmanship and each with its own unmistakable style. Several models were created: sedans, berlinettes, spiders, coupes, convertibles, official cars, for a demanding and very wealthy clientele. Among the most famous creations that preceded the model on sale, there was the Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 B, also designed by V. Jano. 4th place overall in the 1937 Mille Miglia, driven by Mussolini's personal driver. Carrozzeria Touring applied aerodynamic solutions to the body design since 1934, converting the rigid lines of the previous models into rounded lines that gave the car a modern profile. The interiors were finished in a luxurious way and equipped with every comfort of the time. The Alfa Romeo at auction is the direct descendant of these prestigious pre-war versions. Recently (2018-2019), this superb historic car successfully participated in the Mille Miglia; won the prize for the most beautiful Alfa Romeo of the MM 2018, winning the "Clemente Biondetti" Cup.
On 28.10.2020 at 3pm GMT (5pm CEST) the live auction and Youtube channel will be inaugurated, the car object of our service is lot no.15, has an estimate of € 1,000,000.00 - € 1,300.000.00
