Ferrari "Pinin" 512 BB Pininfarina 1980

In 2020 only 90 years of the Pininfarina body shop were celebrated, forty years ago, in 1980, the 50 years of the famous Turin company, founded in 1930 by Battista Farina, called "Pinin“; were commemorated. On that occasion, the founding son, Sergio, wanted to honor his father by creating a special car, together with the Maranello company, baptizing it with the nickname of the parent,“Pinin“. The engine is a V 12, 365 HP, engine of the Ferrari 512BB, chassis designed by Leonardo Fioravanti for the 412,with an extended wheelbase. The cockpit is capable of holding three passengers and the pilot.
It was the only four- door in Ferrari history!
This innovative car was designed by Piero Ottina under the supervision of Fioravanti, director of the Centro Stile di Grugliasco (To). The body is of extraordinary compactness and purity of volumes, developed along a horizontal and aerodynamic line, with a large continuous window in fumyé windscreen, which wraps the upper part of the screen uninterrupted; the windscreen wipers are retractable.
The exterior of the bodywork is silver with the luxurious interior in beige Connolly leather, which also covers the steering wheel. The seats are electronically regulated.
The rims-star wheel in light alloy have imprinted the prancing horse.
This exceptional and unique concept car was offered for sale at RM Sotheby‘s London auction in October 2011 for £ 480/550.000.
