Concours Villa Reale - Monza
The “first lady” is a 1923 Isotta Fraschini, Torpedo Sport Castagna. Surrounded by other real valuable jewels from the automotive industry it is symbol of Elegance and style of the XX century.
About fifty automobiles coming from all over Italy as well as from other countries appeared in the event. Among them: a 1958 Simca Vedette Beaulieu, a Fiat 1100 TV coupè designed by Pininfarina, a Lancia Aurelia Spider America (the unforgettable spyder from the film “Il Sorpasso”), some magnificent Rolls Royces, Jaguars, Ferrari 250 gt, 400 Superamerica, Lancia Fulvia coupé, Porsche, Alfa Romeo 6C and even an English racing car, the Riley!!
Works of art representing the history of the automotive world up until the 1970s were protagonists of concours, organized jointly by Monza Auto Moto Storiche association, Registro internazionale Touring superleggera and Scuderia Jaguar storiche, in the gorgeous setting of Villa Reale.
The event was divided in five categories: Myth and modernity, Between austerity and desire of redemption, The wonderful fifties, The fabulous sixties and A decade in strong colors. The cars were accompanied by models, dressed appropriately to the theme of event. In front of the jury that was composed only by women, the cars got rated according to their lines, their interior and exterior colour scheme and their overall appearance. Just like models on the catwalk, the following day in the center of Monza there was held a prizegiving ceremony where the public chose a very rare Lancia Astura Torpedo Sport, designed by Castagna as the Best of the show. The winner car also counts some glorious victories including Villa d’Este and Pebble Beach.
