ISETTA BMW: LITTLE THE MOME, GREAT THE COMPANY
On the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the “Berlin Wall” his legendary performance is celebrated with a film.
Low fuel consumption minivan, originally produced by Renzo Rivolta’s ISO, between 1955 and 1962 it became a German BMW.
Its graceful ovoid shape was equipped with a fabric hood and it entered the passenger compartment by a front door. Because of its practicality in the city it was loved by the Germans and soon became legendary.
But the Isetta enters the myth with the infamous Berlin Wall, dismantled in 1989.
In 1964, from the divided and armored city, this small vehicle was used as an escape car,which nine people could escape clandestinely from East Berlin and reach West Berlin
The daring and very risky adventure is narrated in the BMW film “the small Escape”, directd by Alex Feil, shot in Budapest.
