SEVEN TWENTIETH CENTURY STARS
In the vast constellation of cars, seven celebrate a decades - long anniversary.
1) 80 years: The legendary Auto Union Type D, a Grand Prix three- liter engine, 1938/39, made by the German manufacturer Auto Union and designed by Robert Eberan von Eberhorts. The important debut was entrusted to the italian champion Tazio Nuvolari, who led her in the German Grand Prix, the Pescara Circuit and the Italian Grand Prix, taking first place. Finally, in the last race before the war, at the Belgrade Grand Prix.
2) 100 years: Mercedes SS K, 1929 Carlton Roadster. It was built to a design by Ferdinand Porsche, who since 1923 was technical director of the German company. It is considered the best car designed by Porsche for Mercedes Benz. Model designed for racing, won the Mille Miglia in 1931. The Englishman John Coast orders one in 1929, which is sent to the Carlton Carriage Co.
3) 100 years: Alfa Romeo 6C Zagato 1750 SS Spyder of 1929. This extraordinary car was the legendary sport drive by Achille Varzi, the antagonist of Tazio Nuvolari. Painted in red with a leather interior,it was sold in England at a price of 1 million 500 thousand€.
4) 50 years: Ferrari 365 GTB/ 4 Pininfarina Special Coupè from 1969, prototype of the Daytona “spider” for the Amerikan market.Targa carriage, that is falsely uncovered,halfway between coupeand spider.
5) 50 years: Ford Capri MK1 of 1969. Coupè produced by the European Ford, in 3 successive series, from 1969 to 1986. Presented by the Brussels Motor Show, it was waiting like a star. The Capri was built in factories in northern Europe, Germany, Belgium, England.
6) 60 years: Morris Mini Minor 1° generation,1959. Brithis Motor Corporation. Car with great success designed by Alec Issigonis. Presented in two initial version: Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor.
7) 60 years: Maserati 5000 GT Persia 1959. It's exotic name is due to the fact that one of these luxurious cars was ordered by the Shah Reza Pahalavi, then to the honor of the chronicles of the whole world. Following this extraordinary publicity, the house of the Trident produced a limited series (32/34) of made- to - measure cars for wealthy clients, from the best Italian bodybuilders.
