Will it be the most spectacular James Bond movie? The locations where shooting is taking place, could not have been more suited to the subject and to the daring cars pursuits, among which the timeless and legendary Aston Martin DB5 silver coupè dominates. DB stand for David Brown, the owner of the car manufacturer, with which all models are marked, between 1950 and 1973. In the Goldfinger Mission, this car was equipped with machine guns, smoke screen and all the paraphernalia that made it as famous as its pilot James Bond.

 

The double set of the movie that the director Cari Fukunaga is creating is exceptionally spectacular: the city of Matera and the Dino Isle. The Ancient Matera, a unique circuit in the world. The "dead" city, which relives many new lives thanks to culture and cinema, is "European Capital of Culture for the year 2019". Theater of the new movie about 007 is the city "of painful beauty", as it is described by Carlo Levi; made up of the two Sassi of the rocky city, the Sasso Barisano and the Sasso Caveoso, that face each other overlooking the abyss of the Gravina. The houses carved into the stone are born one on top of the others and between them winds the road with very dangerous hairpin bends, once not so far and traveled by pack animals; still the cobblestone resounds with their prudent hoofbeats. No set designer, no matter how good and imaginative, would be able to create such a scenario. It took millennia, from the Paleolithic onwards, to create this exemplary example of "spontaneous" architecture, that is, without an architect, rightly recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many films were shot in this place naturally ready for filming. In 1964 P.P.Pasolini filmed there "The Gospel according to Matthew" for the archaic and rural environment; F.Rosi "Christ stopped at Eboli" (1979) from the famous novel by Carlo Levi. Recently the movie remake of the spectacular Ben Hur of 1959, for Paramount and MGM, was shot, partly at Cinecittà and partly among the Sassi.

 

THE DINO ISLE
The Dino Isle: is located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, in front of Calabria. Its sides of rock, which are in slow erosion, are steep overhanging the sea and crossed by a road that climbs up to the summit, between a Mediterranean vegetation of rare plants. This is the most evocative element for a of pursuits without escape movie.
