THE TURIN MOTOR SHOW 2019
Between a summer storm and another, in Turin the 5th edition of the outdoor Motor Show took place, more precisely at Valentino park, near the beautiful fluvial landscape that runs along the Po river.
The inauguration started with the cutting of the ribbon by a self-driving car. There are futuristic prototypes and new cars of great design, which demonstrate that creativity applied to technology is more alive than ever. Plug-in electric and hybrid cars are exposed. However, historic cars from all over Europe have, as always, won the attention of the public and the hearts of the classic Vintage lovers. This year, Citroen has celebrated its 100th anniversary, this is the reason why 100 cars of this brand have arrived. The "birthday" of the classic MINI was celebrated with a gathering of these beautiful cars along the Po river, too. There were also the Fiat 500 Spiaggia (1958), built by the Boano bodyshop for Gianni Agnelli and many other splendid, iconic vintage cars. On 22nd June, the parade of historic cars took place and people could admire them in the courtyard of the Valentino’s 17th century castle, because of the sunny day. The Elegance Competition took place in this location, in which the Master of the automotive Design Giorgetto Giugiaro drove "his" Corvair Testudo (Giugiaro- Bertone, 1963) and his son Fabrizio a Mangusta De Tomaso (Giugiaro, 1968).? As has been recently recognized, the design of great quality applied to the automotive industry is considered an expression of the highest creativity and as such a work of art (Leonardo and his machines!). In this regard, Tom Tjaarda, a talented American designer of sports car was mentioned; he has always worked in Italy and lived in Turin: his the 124 Spider for Pininfarina. The new President of ASI has recognized the great interest of young people for vintage cars, which are a cultural and historical heritage to defend, restore (despite the difficulties) and keep for future generations. The Valentino Park Grand Prix took place on Sunday 23rd June, with the departure from the spectacular Vittorio Veneto Square, for a journey of 40 km through the city ??center, dei Colli Street, where the historic Basilica of Superga dominates, to arrive at the Venaria Reale Palace. The awarding of the winning cars concluded this event, which is important for the participation of highly prestigious cars and because of the city where it took place, in fact Turin is considered the capital of the car. The Fiat 8V Sedan Special Pininfarina. won the Trophy for the "Valentino park Classic Elegance Competition". The Valentino Park Trophy was awarded to the Fiat Dedica Stola. The ASI Trophy to the Dino 246 GT. The "La Dolce Vita" Class Trophy was won by the Lancia Aurelia B24 Convertible America.
