THE EXCELLENCE OF THE GERMAN WATCHMAKING TRADITION

A.LANGE & SOHNE has been present in this center since 1845. In 1898, the Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany commissioned this renowned firm a particularly valuable pocket watch, which the monarch wanted to donate personally to the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Abdul Hamid. After a long period of inactivity and the German reunification, the brand was relaunched in 1990.
Today it is part of the Richemont SA Group of Geneve and produces some of the most refined and precise mechanical watches.
 
GLASHUTTE ORIGINAL is a company of this city of Saxony, active since 1990. It produces watches of great mechanical complexity and high precision. The aesthetic aspect of these timepieces, or better the design, is inspired by the minimalist simplicity of the Bauhaus style. We point out that in 2019 the centenary of the birth of this great German State School of Figurative and Applied Art in Weimar was celebrated. It was a great adventure of modernity, a 20th century design laboratory, under the direction of the most innovative architects and artists of the 20th century. In 1933 it was closed by the Nazi regime. Stylistically beautiful, Glashutte Original watches use very complex manual mechanisms (11 calibers), developed between 2005 and 2006.
