FROM THE CRAZY YEARS TO THE ROARING YEARS: ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM 1 - 1928

Queen among the cars, created for the crowned heads, today worthy of appearing in a museum. The figurine that stands out on the radiator is the "Spirit of Ecstasy" (1909), inspired by a famous English model, work of the sculptor C.R. Sykes. This mascotte says a lot about a product that was considered "The best car in the world", mechanical protagonist of a historical period, before the great depression of 1929, during which Europe and the United States enjoyed the euphoria of industrial production, so much so that Rolls Royce opened a second factory in Massachusetts. In the 20’s, imposing financial empires were born; the great Cinema with the first sound experiments and the famous stars; these are the years of free time marked by jazz and Charleston; of large enterprises, such as Charles Lindberg's airplane ocean crossing.

The manufacturer recommended the Barker body for these luxury cars. This beautiful Phantom 1 dual cowl tourer, blue, with a hood, has passed through these years and the following, called "roaring", to reach the twenty-first century, with a perfectly preserved livery and chrome. From 1992 to 2016 it belonged to the Van der Valk family, owner of the famous Dutch hotel chain; among the many events in which the car took part, very important is the participation in the National Oldtimerdag Prewar in Lelystad Netherlands in 2017. Today it is proposed for sale on OldCar24 by the Dutch company Carrosso Classic & Sportscars.
