It's most illustrious citizen was the architect LE CORBUSIER (Charles-Édouard Janneret, 1887-1965).
In 1900, he began to engrave the cases of gold and silver watches, at the local Art School, with decorative motifs; work of great precision. It can be said that his training took place in a context of rigorous Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship. Later, Le Corbusier became the great 20th century architect we know. He excluded the ornament from its design, he deeply retained the sense of accuracy and of the mountain scenery of the Jura, and he kept the memory of the crystalline purity of the mountain volumes.
