The Italian flag flies high in California

Pebble Beach Golf Club in California is a strip of rocky land, covered with a soft lawn, extending between two inlets in the Pacific Ocean.
It became famous since 1937 thanks to the exceptional landscape and attendances of great champions. This type of environment is visually completely different from legendary Villa d’Este, Renaissance patrician residence in Cernobbio, however, they are two of the three most important places in the world where Concourse of Elegance of Vintage Cars are held.

Almost simultaneously in Monterey, some kilometers far from Pebble Beach Golf Club, a very important Sotheby’s auction with about 80 cars has taken place.
The highest clearing price of $ 48.495.000, a new world record, has been obtained by the italian 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO by Scaglietti. The car is still perfect and famous thanks to the participation to Targa Florio 1962.
A Ferrari California 250 GT was sold at Goodings in Pebble Beach at a price of $11.275.000 in 2012, and a 1957 Ferrari TestaRossa reached a price of $16.727.013 in 2011.

It is important to highlight as well 1955 Maserati A6GCS/53 Black spyder by Frua sold at $5.170.000, and a Ferrari Dino Berlinetta GT (1966) by Pininfarina that costed $3.080.000.

 

And last but not least:
2018 Trofeo “Enzo Ferrari” has been awarded to 1958 TestaRossa 250 Spyder Scaglietti.
