Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2018, Cinema edition

You may have Van Gogh, Modigliani or rare custom-built cars and a name of great collector but to own rare masterpieces of the world is a big challenge. A great number of enthusiasts of these valuable pieces gathered at the lake of Como to see rare works of art exhibited at the museum and some of the best automobiles in Cernobbio.

Without envy or dream of possession the public admired and enjoyed looking at the real beauty. At Concorso d'Eleganza di Villa d'Este 2018 the most prestigious award, the Coppa d'Oro, decided by the public referendum went to 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. Only one person could have designed a red brilliant car with a sensual bodywork with curves of the front wheel arches and four streamlined headlamps. This person was Franco Scaglione (1916-1993). From his designs this wonderful and perfect car was built by manufacturer Marrazzi.

Even Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, the founder of Futurist Movement, after seeing the car would have taken it as beautiful than the victory of Samothrace. This talented and brilliant designer is remembered on the commemorative plaque placed in his hometown, Florence “a solitary genius of bodywork design, aerodynamicist, the creator of elegance” Is there anything else to be said about this masterpiece?
