VISITING MILLE MIGLIA MUSEUM

Mille Miglia Museum was founded by Automobile Club of Brescia in 2004. Seven time sections are dedicated to the races of Mille Miglia 1927 to 1957, one to Mille Miglia 1958-1961 and one to contemporary Mille Miglia.
Mille Miglia (1600 km) is an historical race on road that had some of the most famous drivers like Achille Varzi, Tazio Nuvolari, Carlo Pintacuda, Nino Farina, Gigi Villoresi, Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss and other more.
Mille Miglia was born as a multi-stage race on the route Brescia-Roma (Madonna di Bracciano)-Brescia. Over the years the itinerary has experienced different variations, and in 1947 the cities of Turin and Milan were introduced into the route. The race was stopped during the second world war.
After the success of Mille Miglia, drivers and the cars of Gran Turismo such as Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Ferrari enjoyed the popularity all over the world.
In 1955 Stirling Moss with a Mercedes-Benz 300 SRL spider set the course record of 10h 07' 48".
It is not difficult to imagine the atmosphere during the competition, specially in the pre-war years, when Italy was still poorly cemented, primarly rural territory. Nowadays the race route between medieval villages, hills, lakes and cities of art, that witnesses the millenary Italian culture, is of significant tourist interest.
From 1977 Mille Miglia is a regularity race for vintage cars limited to vehicles from years not above 1957 that participated in the previous years at the race.
Last year Mille Miglia celebrated its 90th anniversary with drivers of different car manufacturers coming from all over the world. ,
